Snake Tips: 6 Tricks to Stop Eating Yourself
Snake is the original mobile time-killer. You eat, you grow, you crash into your own body. Repeat until your thumbs hurt.
Here are six tips that will instantly make you better.
1. Think 3 Moves Ahead
Before every turn, ask: "Where do I go after this? And after that?" If you can't answer, don't make the turn. Most deaths aren't from walls — they're from boxing yourself in with your own body.
2. Hug the Walls
The safest place to be is along the edge. Follow the perimeter, dart in for food, then return to the wall. This keeps your body predictable and the center open for maneuvering.
3. Don't Be Greedy
Some food isn't worth it. If grabbing it means a sharp turn into a crowded area, skip it. Wait for the next one. Survival always beats a few extra points.
4. Follow Your Tail
When you get long (20+ segments), the screen gets crowded. Your tail is always moving away from you, so there's always open space behind it. Follow your tail in a spiral to stay safe.
5. No 180s
Never try to reverse direction. You'll hit your own neck instantly. Always use 90-degree turns with at least one straight segment between direction changes.
6. Slow Down Your Brain
Snake moves fast, but your decisions don't have to. When in doubt, keep going straight. A straight line is always safe (as long as there's no wall ahead). Use the straight segments to plan your next turn.
